Arthur replied at once, “Alright.”

Milton wrote, “Okay.”

After sending their replies, father and son looked up at the same time. Their eyes met, and both broke into a smile. That smile was because of Cole. They had gone from disliking him to slowly appreciating him for standing firmly by Elliana’s side.

“Perhaps we should trust Elliana’s judgment,” Arthur mused. “She’s sharp enough to become Death Thorn of Delta. I doubt her taste in men would be poor.”

Milton chuckled. “Dad, you’re right.”

Elliana had no idea how quickly her father’s and brother’s opinion of Cole had changed. Though she had told them not to treat Cole coldly, she was still uncertain. After all, she had only just reunited with them. Who knew if they might change their minds at the last minute? Better to prepare Cole in case things went south.

Elliana turned to Cole at the wheel and asked softly, “What if my dad and brother don’t like you?”

Cole glanced at her and then smiled. “To marry the beloved woman, a man must show politeness and respect to her family. Even if they don’t like me, I will endure it and try to change their perception of me.” He squeezed her hand gently. “Don’t worry. I won’t put you in a hard spot.”

Elliana’s smile brightened. Cole could be quite childish at times, yet he was always adaptable and considerate. Even with his memory loss, that part of him never changed.

They shared a warm smile as the car headed straight for Harmony Estate.

At that same moment, Wanda hurried out of the Enlightenment Institute. She caught sight of Cole driving away with Lilah. Her fists clenched, her eyes burning with jealousy and rage as she watched the car disappear.

Wanda couldn’t accept it. Her envy twisted into hatred. Cole had barely broken off their engagement before he publicly announced a relationship with Lilah. Why Lilah? What made her so worthy?
